Die steigende Nachfrage nach regionalen Produkten oder „Ethnic Food' - sowohl seitens der Anhänger des Bio-Konsums als auch aus Gründen der kulinarischen Identität - bildet einen fruchtbaren Boden für die Entwicklung der lokalen Lebensmittelindustrie in Kamerun. Mintumba, ein aus Maniok hergestelltes Lebensmittel, erfreut sich landesweit großer Beliebtheit bei einer breiten Verbraucherschicht, doch seine Produktion beschränkt sich ausschließlich auf das „Bassa-Land'. Trotz dieser Vorteile bleibt die wirtschaftliche Entwicklung dieser Region eine Herausforderung. Das Anliegen des Autors ist es, das Paradoxon kultureller Praktiken zu erklären, die offenbar zur kulturellen Konstruktion von Paradoxien führen.
