Damit soziale Eingliederung Wirklichkeit werden kann, müssen die sozio-emotionalen Kompetenzen verbessert werden. Die angewandte Methodik bestand aus einem Interventionsvorschlag zur Messung von Vor- und Nachbehandlungsvariablen und drei Instrumenten: Goldsteins Skala für soziale Fähigkeiten (1978), die Skala für wahrgenommene emotionale Intelligenz (TMMS-24) sowie die Rosemberg-Skala für Selbstwertgefühl (EAR). Prä-Test-Post-Test-ANOVAs zeigten, dass eine Zunahme positiver sozialer Verhaltensweisen, emotionaler Kompetenzen und des Selbstwertgefühls signifikant (p< 0,01) verbessert wurde. Darüber hinaus wurden positive Korrelationen zwischen den Variablen festgestellt, und es wurde deutlich, dass die in der Studie untersuchte Gefängnispopulation im Allgemeinen wenig emotionale Kompetenzen aufwies, sowohl was das Wissen um die eigenen Emotionen als auch die Fähigkeit, diese zu regulieren, betrifft. Die Schlussfolgerungen lauteten, dass eine pädagogische Intervention notwendig ist, um diese Kompetenzen und Fähigkeiten für die soziale und sozio-berufliche Wiedereingliederung zu entwickeln.
