Lo scopo del presente studio è stato quello di sviluppare pastiglie di Fexofenadina cloridrato utilizzando il Jaggery come dolcificante. La fexofenadina cloridrato è un antistaminico con attività antagonista selettiva dei recettori H1 periferici. Viene utilizzato nel trattamento della febbre da fieno e di sintomi allergici simili. La fexofenadina cloridrato è un farmaco scarsamente solubile in acqua e dal sapore amaro. A causa del mal di gola, i pazienti possono avere difficoltà a deglutire una compressa. Pertanto, la pastiglia sarebbe la forma di dosaggio ideale per i pazienti che necessitano di un rapido sollievo. Per assistere i pazienti durante i viaggi (dove non c’è disponibilità di acqua) e per i pazienti che hanno difficoltà a deglutire, è necessario sviluppare sistemi di somministrazione di farmaci in pastiglie. Queste forme di dosaggio sono progettate in modo tale da sciogliersi nella bocca del paziente a contatto con la saliva per un certo periodo di tempo senza l’ausilio dell’acqua. Poiché il farmaco inizia a sciogliersi in bocca, l’assorbimento del farmaco inizia prima che raggiunga lo stomaco, garantendo un rapido inizio dell’azione.
