Die Modellierung von Flusseinzugsgebieten gewinnt zunehmend an Bedeutung, da sie es ermöglicht, den Abfluss, die Entwicklung der Wasserverfügbarkeit und -qualität zu simulieren und einen hydrologischen Überblick über das zu untersuchende Gebiet zu erhalten. Das Ziel dieser Arbeit ist die Anwendung des SWAT-Modells, die Bewertung von Veränderungen in der Landnutzung und im Wasserhaushalt. Die verwendeten Daten waren MNT (Numerisches Geländemodell), Boden-, Landnutzungs- und Klimadaten. Sobald all diese Informationen verfügbar waren, ermöglichte es das SWAT-Modell, den prozentualen Anteil des Wassers, der anthropogenen Flächen und der einheimischen Vegetation in den beiden Untersuchungsjahren 1984 und 2011 im Einzugsgebiet von Igarapé do Quarenta zu ermitteln. Es wurde auch eine überwachte Klassifizierung durchgeführt, bei der die Unterscheidung zwischen den drei verschiedenen Arten von Flächen sichtbar wird.
