Este estudo tem como objetivo analisar a obrigação, no direito internacional, de restituição de bens culturais em caso de tráfico ilícito (roubo ou exportação ilícita), através da sua evolução convencional, nomeadamente a Convenção da UNESCO de 1970 e a Convenção da UNIDROIT de 1995. Este estudo revela, no entanto, que existem inúmeras limitações à aplicação do regime de restituição desses bens.
