Women Presidents, Prime Ministers and Leaders 2018 features all 107 women who have been President or Prime Minister of their respective nations. These inspiring women have come from all backgrounds; they have been scientists, factory workers, police officers, flight attendants, lawyers, doctors, teachers, journalists, psychologists, organic chemists, accountants, stay-at-home moms and guerilla fighters. Their achievements include bridging transitions from war to peace, advocating for women and children, fighting foreign aggression and rescuing their national economy. Each woman's profile is accompanied by a quote, her unique story and achievements, told briefly in these short biographies. Here are some interesting Facts: Of the 107 women Presidents and Prime Ministers, 44 are from Europe, 25 from Asia, 15 from Africa, 12 from Central America and the Caribbean, 4 from the Pacific and only 2 are from North America!  (Canada's Kim Campbell for one year and Greenland's Aleqa Hammond, also for one year). More than 30% of Asian women leaders have been jailed for their beliefs or for largely politically motivated crimes. The United States, Russia and China have never had an elected female leader. (Hillary Clinton won the popular vote in 2016, China's Soong Qingling was the Deputy Prime Minister). 30% of South American women leaders were tortured by the very countries they would go on to lead. Michelle Bachelet (currently President of Chile) and Dilma Rousseff (recently of Brazil) are the latest. Whenever women have led nations, attention to care for women, children, the sick and peacebuilding have dramatically increased, with a few exceptions. Several nations now have minimum required percentages (usually 30%), mandated and set aside for women in their national parliament or assembly. Nepal, Serbia, and Rwanda are among these nations.

It’s time to fight back. In November 2016, Donald Trump lost the national popular vote—by a lot!—yet managed to stumble into the White House. Trump’s presidency is not just an indictment of our political system—it’s an affront to our core values as a nation. How could such an ignorant autocratic buffoon claim to represent such a diverse, open, and free society? A majority of ...
