Three rules. One road in. No road out. When war closes over her city and grief takes everything else, schoolteacher Marta follows the only address her vanished mother ever left behind: a letter from a grandmother she never knew, in a Carpathian village that appears on no map.The village has kept that house for decades, as if expecting her. It also keeps rules:Don’t go into the forest after dark.If a voice calls you from the trees - any voice - don’t answer it.What you find in the forest, leave in the forest.Marta spent a year under shellfire learning the difference between danger and superstition, and she files the rules under superstition. Then she boards the seven o’clock bus out, rides forty minutes downhill - and steps off at the stop of the village she has just left. Now she wants answers. But this village counts its people the way a ledger counts debt, the graveyard keeps thirteen graves without names and one already waiting, and at night, beyond the stream, a voice she buried a year ago has learned to call her name.THE WAYWARD BLOOM - Ukrainian folk horror about grief, memory, and the price of being remembered.
