Outside, the skies had decided to open and they battered the countryside with a torrential rain. The country roads in and around TinkerHill Falls didn't get much in the way of traffic. Nelson had no intention of taking any risks and bringing forward the fate of his death-row passengers, so he proceeded cautiously into the night. All was going well until suddenly, and quite unexpectedly, a spiraling spade smashed through the windshield. It sliced the side of Nelson's head, clipped Mike's shoulder and then, with its continued momentum, sliced deep gashes along the heads of four prisoners who had tragically been seated in the seats behind Nelson. A short distance away by the dense forestland stood a huge figure in an orange jumpsuit that was quickly being swallowed up by William Johnson's suede jacket. Sporadic flashes of moonlight splintered through the leaves, showing the giant form perching a cowboy hat upon his head before melting into the surrounding trees. The Ancient Lawman was born.
