Este trabalho de investigação visa apresentar a avaliação baseada em simulação da distribuição da SAR em tecidos do ouvido humano sujeitos à radiação de radiofrequência (RF) de telemóveis. Um modelo anatómico simplificado de três camadas composto pela pele, o tecido adiposo subcutâneo e a cartilagem auricular é apresentado como modelo. Os parâmetros elétricos e térmicos de cada camada, tais como condutividade, permitividade relativa, densidade e capacidade térmica específica, foram incluídos no modelo computacional. O método das diferenças finitas no domínio do tempo (FDTD) foi utilizado para a simulação da propagação de ondas eletromagnéticas na estrutura do tecido e para analisar a distribuição espacial do campo elétrico e magnético. As SAR foram calculadas nas frequências utilizadas nas comunicações móveis, isto é, 900 MHz, 1800 MHz e 2400 MHz. Os efeitos dos contrastes dielétricos nas camadas de tecidos sobre a profundidade de penetração e os padrões de deposição de energia também foram investigados.
