L’istone deacetilasi 2 (HDAC2) è un membro chiave della famiglia delle istone deacetilasi di classe I, che svolge un ruolo critico nella regolazione epigenetica dell’espressione genica. Questo enzima modifica la struttura della cromatina rimuovendo i gruppi acetilici dai residui di lisina delle proteine istoniche, influenzando così la trascrizione genica. Sebbene HDAC2 funzioni nei normali processi cellulari, è spesso sovraespresso in vari tipi di cancro e svolge un ruolo significativo nella crescita, nella proliferazione e nella differenziazione delle cellule tumorali [1]. Per questo motivo, HDAC2 è considerato un promettente bersaglio terapeutico nel trattamento del cancro.In questo studio sono state analizzate in dettaglio le caratteristiche di legame di una nuova piccola molecola che ha come bersaglio l’enzima HDAC2. Utilizzando approcci computazionali, sono state condotte simulazioni di docking molecolare e di dinamica molecolare (MD) per studiare il comportamento di legame della molecola al sito attivo di HDAC2. I risultati del docking hanno rivelato che il composto si lega al sito attivo dell’enzima con elevata affinità, formando legami idrogeno e interazioni idrofobiche con residui aminoacidici critici.
