En plena posguerra civil española, la familia Regueiro decide abandonar su localidad natal por enfermedad del progenitor. Seinstalan entonces en Sevilla, donde Martina, hija pequeña del matrimonio y menor de edad, conoce a Alberto, vástago de un exitoso empresario santanderino que casi le dobla en años y de vida tan acomodada como licenciosa.
