'Nickel Coinage' is a comprehensive study of the historical and technical implementation of nickel in the production of world currency. Written during a period of significant transition in monetary materials, this work explores the physical properties that make nickel an ideal metal for circulating coins, including its exceptional hardness, resistance to corrosion, and distinct aesthetic luster. The text examines the evolution of coinage from precious metals to base metal alloys, detailing the industrial processes involved in refining and striking nickel. It provides a detailed overview of the various nations that adopted nickel and cupro-nickel alloys, analyzing the economic and practical advantages such as longevity and the prevention of forgery. The work offers insights into the metallurgical challenges and triumphs associated with this durable metal, making it an essential resource for numismatists, historians of technology, and those interested in the history of monetary policy.Readers will find a thorough investigation into the shift toward modern currency standards and the role of industrial advancement in shaping the physical money we use today. 'Nickel Coinage' remains a significant historical reference for understanding the intersection of metallurgy and global commerce. This work has been selected by scholars as being culturally important, and is part of the knowledge base of civilization as we know it.
