Sigrid Undset
'Kristin Lavransdatter' er en historisk romansyklus av Sigrid Undset (1882-1949) som består av 'Kransen' (1920), 'Husfrue' (1921), og 'Korset' (1922).'Husfrue' omhandler Kristin som mor og husfrue på gården Husaby i Skaun. Kjærligheten til Erlend er ikke like sterk, og livet med Erlend har ikke blitt slik hun hadde ventet. Kristin tar på seg ansvaret for gården og ansvaret for barna; Erlend er lettsindig og bekymringsløs og krenker henne ved flere anledninger. Kristin tilgir, men klarer ikke å glemme.Kristin sliter også med skyldfølelse overfor foreldrene, særlig faren, men også overfor Gud. Med sin førstefødte, Nåkkve, legger Kristin ut på den tunge botsgangen over Dovre til Olav den hellige i Nidarosdomen, for å få forlatelse for sine synder.
