Marxismo e historia antigua I: Historia de Grecia del despotismo al esclavismo es la primera parte de una investigación consagrada al análisis de las condiciones peculiares que permitieron que en la antigua Grecia se disuelva el modo de producción de despotismo “asiático” o “tributario” para ser reemplazado por las relaciones de producción esclavistas típicas de la llamada antigüedad clásica. Este estudio parte de las premisas metodológicas del materialismo histórico para examinar la evidencia disponible y reconsiderar críticamente la literatura historiográfica, por lo tanto, estamos ante un trabajo científico de primer nivel que no solo interesa a especialistas en el tema, sino también a trabajadores y militantes que precisan conocer el pasado para así resolver los enigmas y dificultades que plantea el momento presente.Ernesto Schettino Maimone y Ángel Chávez Mancilla son profesores de historia de la Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM).
