'Mariam' es la segunda colección de cuentos de Saïd Al-Alami, quien comenzó su carrera literaria con cuentos y poesía a mediados de los años sesenta, y fue publicada en periódicos y revistas kuwaities como Al-Taliah, Al-Resala y Al-Nahda. Su primera colección de cuentos, 'La Conferencia', se publicó en Madrid en 1992.Trabajó en Madrid como corresponsal de diversos medios de comunicación árabes, como el periódico Al-Qabas, la revista Al-Mustaqbal y la cadena de televisión MBC.Actualmente trabaja como periodista en la radio española y corresponsal de la Agencia de Noticias de Kuwait.Saïd Al-Alami no pretende ser un escritor de cuentos profesional, pero creo que los cuentos de esta segunda colección tienen muchos de los elementos de un cuento.
