Percy Urday presenta en este volumen los institutos principales del Derecho Marítimo y entre ellos de los derechos de garantía que puedan afectar al buque y que se encuentran regulados por la Decisión 487 de la Comunidad Andina. Se ocupa, en sus lineamientos generales, de los diversos tipos de contratos de fletamento, que son contratos paritarios, y con mayor detenimiento del contrato de transporte marítimo de mercancías amparado en conocimientos de embarque, ya que este es el principal vehículo del comercio exterior peruano. Hace un análisis del sistema de responsabilidad del derecho privado peruano y de los principales convenios internacionales que se encuentran vigentes, y se hace una crítica de la jurisprudencia que ha producido la Corte Suprema. Finalmente, se hace un somero estudio de los peligros que acechan a la navegación y al comercio marítimo. 10
