Este libro exhibe a Francisco por su liderazgo político y civil, el líder más férreo contra las atrocidades del capitalismo salvaje y postmoderno. Asumido que su reinado es de este mundo, y que el programa político del papa incluye involucrarse con los graves problemas que atraviesa el planeta, se examinan las posturas de liderazgo humanitario que asume el pontífice. No hay aquí apreciaciones relativas ni al dogma ni a la doctrina católica. Francisco es un líder humanitario inspirado en todo humanismo, ya sea el humanismo occidental iniciado por Erasmo de Rotherdam, o el humanismo oriental regido por el 'Tao Te King' de Lao-Tsé.
