Julia’s Dream is a historical romance which is set in Glasscock County, Texas during the late 1800’s. At the age of sixteen, Julia Van Horn survives a rape attempt. To do so, she must use her attacker’s own gun to shoot him. He lives, but he tells a very different tale than Julia’s about what had taken place on that dark country road. So now, three years later, every available man in Glasscock County is afraid to go near her. Therefore, rather than having to deal with a long line of potential suitors, Julia finds that she has plenty of time on her hands to run the family’s ranch, and look after her three younger sisters while her parents take an extended trip back east.Proud that her mother and father trust her with such an immense responsibility, Julia works hard not to misplace that trust. But a small problem has arisen, someone is stealing from them. The missing items are only trivial, mostly food and a few blankets, but Julia believes that it is important enough to ask for help from the local law. The only problem is that the Sheriff of Glasscock County does not seem to want to be bothered by a woman who is complaining about a missing pie or two. So instead of looking into the matter himself, he sends his deputy to do the job.Deputy Patrick Wolf is not certain he wants to be straddled with the chore of babysitting a wealthy ranch owner’s daughter either, but he is new in town and he happens to want to do a good job for Sheriff Baker. But when he finds himself thrown into the middle of four beautiful, high-strung, independent young women, he decides he just might have faired better in the midst of a rattle snake den.Julia’s Dream is the first in a series of five books detailing the lives and loves of the Van Horn women.
