Suddenly Janet was frightened, and more completely alone than she had ever been in her life. Lifting her small suitcase, she went to stand uncertainly in the doorway of the train station...This year Mr. Lennon had decided his famous singing daughters would have separate vacations. Excitedly Janet chose her cousin's dude ranch. But what she found at her destination proved almost more of a challenge than she could handle... cousins who treated her as an unwelcome guest, a bankrupt ranch, fires in the night, a half-crazed old man who would stop at nothing to get what he wanted, and trouble and danger at every turn.
