INTRODUCCIÓNLa XVII Legislatura italiana (2013-20181) había constituido una etapa que, aunque con un inicio marcado por la constante inestabilidad (incapacidad para elegir un nuevo Presidente de la República, falta de un vencedor claro en las elecciones al separar menos de un punto de diferencia al ganador (Partido Democrático) del segundo (Forza Italia), economía en permanente recesión, caída de Pier Luigi Bersani y, finalmente, configuración de un gobierno débil sometido al permanente chantaje de Silvio Berlusconi) había transcurrido, la mayor parte de la misma, por una evidente recuperación del país. Aunque hubo tres gobiernos en cinco años (los presididos de manera consecutiva por Letta, Renzi y Gentiloni), la realidad es que el dominador de la XVII Legislatura había sido el joven político toscano Matteo Renzi, quien fue capaz de gobernar durante más de 1.000 días entre febrero de 2014 y diciembre de 2016. 10
