IN 2006, a team of volunteers-ordinary folk possessing little airplane restoration experience but sharing a common passion-set out to rebuild a WWII bomber and return it to the sky. Starting with the wrecked and incomplete remains of the last four salvageable B-17 Flying Fortresses, and a stack of 30,000 nearly illegible blueprints, the Champaign Lady has taken shape against all odds.
