Frei JOSÉ MONTEIRO CARNEIRO, OFM, foi Pároco de Mangueirinha, PR, durante mais de quarenta anos. Nascido em São João do Meriti, RJ, em 8/9/1927 e ordenado sacerdote no ano de 1953, em Teresópolis, RJ, após a ordenação trabalhou em Agudos, SP, em Duque de Caxias, RJ, e Lages, SC. A partir do início da década de 1960, passou a trabalhar na Diocese de Palmas, PR. Foi designado para a Paróquia de Mangueirinha em 1962, onde permaneceu como Pároco até 29 de agosto de 2002.Nascido de família humilde, filho de pai português e mãe brasileira, desde criança enfrentou as dificuldades naturais de uma família de poucas posses. Aos doze anos, entrou para o Seminário. Aos dezesseis, perdeu a mãe, sem poder vê-la na despedida. Seu pai faleceu no ano de 1966, quando se iniciava a construção da Igreja Matriz em Mangueirinha. Era irmão de Guiomar e de Antônio; este também se ordenou padre. Em seu livro, relata as dificuldades enfrentadas nos primeiros anos de Pároco. Conta também a história da Paróquia e alguns detalhes dos primeiros anos do Município, quando a indústria madeireira era a principal atividade econômica local. É documento histórico. Foi organizado e publicado por Osório Savoldi, com a colaboração de Myrian Jhenifer Santos.
