Ramesh Pokhriyal Dr. ’Nishank’
Dr. Ramesh Pokhriyal ’Nishank’ has previously been the Chief Minister of Uttarakhand and is currently the Lok Sabha Member of Parliament from Haridwar. He has an equal hold on Literature Culture and Politics.He has published more than four dozen books till date on the subjects like as Poetry Stories Novels Children’s Literature Tourism Pilgrimages and Personal Development. These books have been translated into several foreign languages like French Russian German English Nepali etc. as well as Indian regional languages such as Tamil Telugu Kannada Marathi and Sanskrit. Nishankji’s works are prescribed in the syllabi of several universities. Much research work has been done and is in progress across universities.He has been appreciated by three presidents of our country at the Rashtrapati Bhawan for Excellence in creating Literature. In both India and abroad he has received the titles of ’Bharat Gaurav! ’Rashtra Gaurav’ ’Sahitya Bharti’ ’Sahitya Gaurav’ and ’Sahityacheta’ and the ’Mauritius Sammaan’ and ’Gopio International Extraordinary Achievement Award’ from the Mauritius government.His work ’Himalaya ka Mahakumbh’ has received the Central Government ’Rahul Sanskrityayan Tourism Award’. Recently the Prime Minister of Uganda honoured him for his outstanding contribution to literature with the ’Uganda Human Excellence Honour’. The Prime Minister of Nepal has presented him the ’Nepal Himal Honour’ and the Dubai government has also awarded him for good governance.
