Stephen W. Sweigart
EXISTMANKIND: The Creation of Mankind & Womenkind by Stephen W. Sweigart is a bold, poetic journey through humanity’s oldest question: where did everything, the universe, the gods, and we ourselves, come from?Blending hard science with the world’s oldest stories, Sweigart traces the birth of the cosmos from the Big Bang through the discoveries of Einstein, Hubble, Friedmann, Lemaître, Penzias and Wilson, and the modern mysteries of dark matter and dark energy, all rendered in accessible, rhythmic verse rather than dense textbook prose. From there, the book explores humanity’s great creation-myth traditions, including Egyptian, Norse, Babylonian, Greek, Japanese, Sumerian, Hindu, and Genesis accounts of how the world and the first man and woman came to be. The book then concludes with a look at evolutionary biology, the tree of life, and the search for life’s origins here on Earth and beyond.Part science primer, part comparative mythology, and part philosophical meditation, this book is for curious minds who want to hold cosmology and ancient belief side by side and ask: How did we really get here?Ideal for readers who enjoy accessible science writing and world mythology, as well as anyone who has ever looked at the night sky and wondered where it all began.
