El estudio de la literatura compromete el conocimiento de diversas herramientas que permitan un acercamiento integral a la peculiar naturaleza de los textos literarios, llamados también textos artísticos. Aquí se dan cita distintos tópicos y preguntas, como la indagación en un concepto de literatura como disciplina, el canon, el contexto histórico, las características centrales del texto literario y sus vinculaciones con la experiencia social. De igual modo, se presentan miradas sobre la poesía, la teoría literaria latinoamericana, el teatro, los relatos fantásticos y de ciencia ficción y la hibridez de los llamados textos de no ficción. En suma, se trata de un libro que iniciará al estudiante en el apasionante estudio de la práctica literaria.
