As fourteen year-old Martha Michalski watched the German Wehrmacht march through the small Silesian town of Ratiborhammer in early September 1939, she knows that her simple small-town world would never be the same. Germany is at war now. The hopes and dreams of a young girl are suspended by Adolf Hitler’s plan to dominate Europe. His vision for Germany, puts young Martha’s life in danger and leaves her as a refugee, never to return home again.
