Questo studio è un’etnografia delle esperienze postnatali delle donne migranti dell’Asia meridionale a Perth, WA, che esamina le differenze culturali relative alla maternità e sostiene che la cultura dell’Asia meridionale in cui queste donne sono state socializzate potrebbe avere un grande impatto sul modo in cui hanno vissuto i sentimenti di quella che nella medicina occidentale viene definita 'depressione postnatale'. La loro comprensione psicologica postnatale della 'depressione postnatale' è stata analizzata attraverso la lente delle convenzioni dell’Asia meridionale sulla virtù femminile praticate attraverso restrizioni al comportamento femminile.
