La intensidad en el espacio y el tiempo se puede entender como la «densidad de los eventos». Dado que la memoria personal y colectiva es imperfecta y las historias deben antes que contarse entenderse, esta novela se propone hacerlo a partir de las «densidades deducidas». En este tenor, la escritura se concibe como un mecanismo para la reconstrucción de las vidas, de la intensidad de los eventos: de lo pasado de lo que pasó y de lo que no pasó, de algunas de las historias personales y colectivas de la región de Veracruz y de México. Así, en un periplo por dos generaciones, entre viajes a ciudades de Francia, España y Alemania, se narra el devenir de dos primos carnales que, condicionados por sus pasiones, logran mantener sus convicciones y llevarlas hasta las últimas consecuencias. El telón de fondo es la historia política de las últimas décadas del milenio de un México que vive en la última fase de un sistema político con un partido hegemónico.
