Cette recherche vise à comprendre les syncrétismes présents dans le Centre Nossa Senhora Aparecida Umbanda de la communauté quilombola 'Nicanor da Luz', situé dans le quartier de Cancelão, dans la municipalité de Piratini, dans l’État du Rio Grande do Sul. Le centre, dirigé par Dona Santa, est unique en raison des différentes matrices religieuses à travers lesquelles sa cacica évolue. Ses pratiques de benzedura et de guérison, ainsi que la récitation de chapelets catholiques, appris de sa mère lorsqu’elle vivait encore à la campagne, ainsi que les autres résidents de la communauté qui, comme Dona Santa, pratiquaient déjà la religion Umbanda dans cet environnement, contribuent à former cette Umbanda.
