Chalk It Up! Over 160 Ideas

Chalk It UP!!! Whether a line is drawn or a maze designed, young children discover their capabilities and the joy of creative expression through chalk activities. Turn fun-filled outdoor play into body-building and brain-connecting experiences. Enhance problem-solving, language, math, and literacy skills. Included within are a compilation of over 160 constructive ideas and alternative activities with step-by-step instructions, helpful diagrams, proposed open-ended questions, journal pages to record ideas, and, in some cases, fun facts. Educational components are introduced, and suggestions are presented for different ages and stages to challenge children at different levels. Use one activity for young children to practice their ABCs, with the understanding that older children can use a variation of the same activity to review more challenging concepts. Active participation is encouraged to foster social interaction. Chalk play can stimulate the senses, help develop fine and gross motor skills, improve hand-eye coordination, and promote hands-on learning. It remains an inexpensive means of entertainment that offers a messy world of possibilities without electricity or having to recharge, so CHALK IT UP!  For toddlers, preschoolers, and children in early primary grades.
