The author first composed this story for a class assignment in grade school and re-discovered it years later stashed away in a box of long forgotten memories. As she re-read it she imagined how the story could shape up into an entertaining picture book for small children. The riming lines and color illustrations are a more recent addition.A former college classmate comments:'Cecil’s Career' is charming, funny and clever. The author gently teaches big truths about being 'different' and about the welcome and safety of a loving home.'Two of the author’s grandchildren have also commented. Anna (twelve) considers it:'a good story - good for smaller children but also for bigger ones like us.'Astrid (nine) agrees:'I liked the pictures and I liked the text.'
