Barking at God is Val Vinokur’s second collection. It marks a return to the work of Vladimir Mayakovsky, most notably in the translation of About This, which had been almost 20 years in the making. Vinokur pairs ambitious translations with original poetry, written over the last seven years and spanning topics from a global pandemic to the art of translation itself. The book features cover art by Andrea Charlotte Mayaka Eberhardt, along with her re-imagination of Alexander Rodchenko’s photo-collages for About This.
