En este libro se tratan temas que se podrían considerar 'candentes' en la gestión del conocimiento sobre el arte rupestre de Cuba. Dichos temas son tratados aquí como problemas teóricos y metodológicos susceptibles a la crítica y el cuestionamiento académico. En estas líneas se analizan, desde una concepción materialista histórica, las limitaciones en el empleo de ciertas herramientas en la investigación del arte rupestre de Cuba, así como de los resultados y conclusiones a los que se ha arribado a partir de su aplicación. Si una de las razones más importantes de nuestra actividad es la construcción de un conocimiento histórico y social, es imprescindible entonces manejar, desde una visión analítica y crítica, la implementación de dichas herramientas y las tendencias de interpretación y explicación que han sido predominantes en los estudios del arte rupestre.
