Tendai Rinos Mwanaka
I want to use the analogue in Simbarashe Kashiri’s poems, Muumbi poems, to poetry making, which is a craft like ceramics. We have to put in the work for years and years, building a brick by-brick house of poetry, only that nothing is guaranteed when a poem or poetry body is ready for exposition. But like the ceramics maker we have to do the work again, going through the journey, building another poem, another craft, with the belief something will stick and stay and outlive us. Here is a clay pot in African Languages Poetry Anthology Vol 2, we are taking it to the market by publishing it. We hope you will see the journey and enjoy it, for a lot of us poets, it’s about the journey, and you the readers are the destination. African Languages Poetry Anthology Vol 2 has poems in several African languages: Sena, Kiswahili, Shona, Kalenjin, Ewe, ChiChewa, Gwandara, Iloyi... etc.
