Shedd, of the said District, have deposited in this office, the title of a book, the right whereof they claim as proprietors, in the words following, to wit: 'A History of the State of Vermont, from its discovery and settlement, to the close of the year 1830. GOVE, Clerk.This history includes geography, flora and fauna, discovery, Indian tribes, surrender of Canada to Great Britain, civil policy from 1760 to 1775, first settlement, controversy and claims of New Hampshire and New York and Massachusetts, establishment of state boundaries, the floods of 1811 and 1830, the War of 1812, and the unusually cold summer of 1816. It also gives an overview of counties, towns, the courts, revenue and expenses of the government, population tables, banks, militia, colleges, and religion. An index to names completes this work.
